SALON: You are engaged in the production of kitchens for a long time. According to your observations, what fundamental changes have occurred in the design and ergonomics of kitchens during this time?

 - The format of the kitchen is changing with humanity. The kitchen of the present reflects the changes that have occurred in society in recent times, changes in people's habits. Accordingly, changing requirements for the kitchen. Previously, it was a place where only cooked. And now they are cooking, eating, and gathering with the whole family. I noticed that children now even do homework in the kitchen, because it has become a central space in the house. Today's kitchen is a kind of hardware and technology center at home. Therefore, the kitchen of the present is primarily large and multifunctional. The area of ​​working surfaces increases, and storage systems, on the contrary, become more compact. For example, SNAIDERO was the first company that released the kitchen (Skyline) without hanging boxes. This model was in many ways innovative, it changed the concept of kitchens.

I also note that the kitchen is no longer hidden, but shown. The process of cooking itself has become more demonstrative. So, the island allows you to cook facing the family, guests.

S: What trends do you not like?

 - I do not close the tendency to make cold kitchen. Cold and on design, on materials, and on mood. a more soulful approach, and even in minimalist steel and aluminum kitchens, for my taste, something must be warm - wooden fragments, rounded shapes, a bit of color.

S: In your experience, is it possible to calculate the success of an unusual design in advance?

 - Here another algorithm works. The impetus for creating a new kitchen is the human need. And designers carry out the tasks. For example, the kitchen Acropolis we did so that the person stood in the center of the kitchen, and he had everything at hand. Calculates the possibility of translating the most crazy ideas. So calculation and creativity are combined. Sometimes new ideas are born in ordinary conversation.

But to create a good design, tradition and culture are necessary. Aesthetics is not a thing that is born by the wave of a hand. Italian design continues the national tradition of visual arts. It is also important to note that each innovation in the design requires an update of production. The current format is now when the client can choose the form of the kitchen elements - it is not fixed. The form is drawn at the point of sale, in the cabin. The more innovation, the more changes and complications in production. Therefore, the kitchen is gradually becoming more expensive. But this is the case when efficiency does not just justify spending, but even surpasses it.

S: How do the kitchens change in classical style, what are the prospects for their development?

 - Classic these days is a source of inspiration for designers. Most modern kitchens in classic style are in fact also modern design, but using traditional forms. Actually, only the facades remain classical in such kitchens, and inside everything is modern, functional. S: Is there anything that does not suit you even in the best modern kitchens? - Yes, I constantly lacked something in the kitchens that I used, and you cannot list everything. But now I look forward to the emergence of the new Venus kitchen, which I developed for SNAIDEROPaolo Pininfarina, - it will be presented at the nearest exhibition Eurocucina. I will put this kitchen at home - here it will be almost perfect, I know for sure.
