This is a good movie theater, arranged in the living room, that it does not oblige to anything, but only offers entertainment to choose from. Here you can drink tea in a narrow circle of friends, you can talk or reflect, read a book. Finally, you can expand the screen and watch the movie. The screen is usually rolled up and hidden in the ceiling, and only the projector, the equipment stand and the acoustic systems mounted on the walls, remind one more function of the living room - film function.

The walls and ceiling entirely finished in oak panels, the marble floor, the classic furniture with bronze overlays — all these details create an image of a solid, somewhat conservative living room, in which the formality and chamberiness are somehow very comfortably proportioned. Here, on the second floor of the house, private rooms are located, therefore the living room (seemingly by definition, public space, a place for receiving guests) in this context also acquires some private features. Here, for example, silk puffs and floor cushions, dishes and low fruit vases in oriental style came to the place. The architect decided the living room-home theater in an eclectic style, basically going back to the Victorian. Eclecticism turned out to be a good method both from the decorative point of view and engineering. It was decided, for example, not to hide the equipment, which is so elegantly combined with oak panels. A strict Victorian style would not tolerate this.

SALON: Did the owners have any special requirements for the cinema?

Leonid Melnikov: They expressed the wish for the cinema to fit perfectly into the space allocated for this purpose. At first, it was supposed to install a projection TV with a diagonal instead of a bundle “motorized screen - projector” 50-55 inches. But this idea was abandoned - the screen fit better into the interior. Installers often have to make such compromises.

S: Why choose a bunch of Danish acoustics DALI and electronics ONKYO Integra?

 - The hosts listened to our recommendations, and we, in turn, proceeded from operating experience and personal sympathies. My opinion: today ONKYO is probably the last representative of the good old Japan in audio technology. And Euphonia is simply luxurious acoustics with comfortable, rich sound. With the DALI brand, none of our installers have ever had any problems. Approximately in this way all this was recommended to clients.

S: Rear speakers and surround back speakers are suspended in a single line behind the seats, while the rear speakers should be located on the side, and Surround Back should be located on the back. Why was this decision made?

 - Based on the design features of the room. However, this did not affect the characteristics of the cinema. The correct sound field was lined up with the help of a processor by installing the necessary time delays between the signals of the rear and surround back channels.

S: Is the video projector connected via component input or HDMI?

 - By analog component. Component video transmission in some cases may even be better than digital HDMI.

S: Is there lighting control in the cinema?

 - As far as I know, no.
