In Italy, the production of a product is associated with a particular locality. It so happened that the furniture was made mainly in Brianza, silk crafts have long been located around Lake Como, glass became the prerogative of Veneto, and the jewelery craft flourished around Florence. Clay for ceramic tiles was mined and continued to be mined in the Emilia region (for modern Italy, it would be more correct to say — in Emilia-Romagna). Sasuolo, a tiny town not far from Bologna, is the heart of the Italian ceramic industry. Dozens, if not hundreds of small family businesses have sprung up and are still here. Therefore, when the annual exhibition Cersaie started in Bologna in 1979, historical justice triumphed, and Italian tile was recognized far beyond the borders of the motherland. Now Cersaie is the largest and most important industry event in the world.
Tile and today successfully claims a major role in the decoration of the premises. But already taking into account all the technological breakthroughs undertaken by manufacturers since the time of the millennium. The main "thought" of the Bologna Fair comes down ... to the senses. They became the center of gravity for both designers and technologists. For technologists even more. The visual aspect retreated before the tactile. The tile even became seemingly tender, velvety, resembling water ripples or the rhythm of a shell, or even the surface of a woolen blanket. As for the ornaments, everyone rushed into 3D effects. The 3D-visualization task is ideally combined with the mosaic, forming a recognizable pixel image.
