The interior fashion has brought to the rank of a trend an almost archaic thing - an English-style library. The view on its function is also changing: it is not so much reading, but rest and reflection.

The trend is local, it does not apply to the whole interior, but only to the library. This English library is a room with harmonious proportions and concise decor. Here, nothing prevents to think and rest. Curtains and upholstery are ideal for walls and cabinets of terracotta color, in the ornament of which there is a muted green. Antiquarian publications from Herodotus to Adam Smith, as well as furniture and rare gizmos from the South-East are obligatory.

The decor of the English library, which has not changed for several hundred years, is today at the height of fashion. He establishes a direct connection with the present century and the past century (and ultimately appeals to the culture of antiquity). He offers tradition as a universal tool for building a happy present and inspires a feeling of confidence in the future. At the same time, it strongly encourages the owner's individuality, as evidenced by the unique items in the collections.

Designer Martin Waller: "My home is in style RegencyIt was built in the 20s of the nineteenth century. This style house owes its large windows. everything is authentic. I do not try to make the interior more beautiful, newer. And in this house I left a lot as is, for example, I kept the old floors. For the walls and cabinets in the library, I chose a slightly brighter shade of red than is customary in England. There are many things dear to me, including from China, Africa, and Siberia. Most of all, I don’t like perfectly symmetrical interiors, “drawn by a ruler”, that don’t have anything individual. ”
