Lapland is somewhere far, far away in the very north, there are deer roaming there and, according to the UN, Santa Claus lives. More recently, interior designers are drawing inspiration from the folklore of this fabulous region.

Santa Claus has a residence permit, as is known, Lapland, north of northern Scandinavia. The main New Year's character was settled by the UN there: in 1984, Lapland was officially declared the habitat of Santa. In addition to Santa Claus live here and ordinary Laplanders. They ride reindeer, cut wood, and decorate the house more and more with hides (after all, the north is cold!) And furniture made of unplanted wood. In the sky that day, the radiance, the climate can not be called mild, and only one season - winter.

In the European consciousness of Lapland, the role of a fabulous, folklore country is assigned. Local traditions have recently become interesting not only to scholars and ethnographers. The culture of the polar region decided to put at the service of design. All these northern motifs are even more relevant in the winter. The flora and fauna of these places are fascinating - designers decorate textiles and porcelain with images of deer and owls. In the design of furniture using a characteristic ornamental decor. Popular "logs" and "hemp". Such racks and stools from woody cuts and benches made from solid trunks are in the new collection of the Italian factory RIVA 1920. In the Prolapland interior there are many skins of sheep, goat and rare waterfowl in our latitudes, for example.

This design is extremely cozy, homely. It is associated with the warmth of the hearth, the long winter evenings that you can pass by, having a feast with tea drinking and cakes.
