Madrid is famous not only for its museums, but also for its hotels. Although who said that this is not the same thing? It may well be, especially if you remember the Casa de Madrid - a small family-run luxury hotel owned by a hereditary aristocratic

Dona Marta Medina seemed to devote herself forever to the history of art - she organized exhibitions and lectured. Who would have thought that one day she would be in the hotel business ?! This came as a surprise even to herself. Martha Medina just bought the property. She was supposed to live there. So, in the late 80s Medina bought a house near Seville, but in fact it turned out to be too big for her alone. And, without thinking twice, she turned it into a small luxury hotel. Apartments in an old mansion of the XVIII century in the very heart of Madrid had the same fate. I must say that these apartments are of royal proportions. "Why not make them a mini-hotel?" - thought enterprising Medina, who already had a similar experience. This is how the inimitable Casa de Madrid appeared.

Only the favorites stay here, and the rooms themselves are booked long, because there are only seven of them. Especially love the hotel opera celebrities. First of all, due to its location - it is located opposite the Madrid Royal Opera and Ballet Theater, literally across the road.

The hostess managed to create a truly majestic atmosphere in this hotel. It was not difficult, because in addition to the history of art, Medina studied decorative art and more than once worked as a decorator. In addition, her aristocratic background helped. The hotel’s rooms are decorated with heirlooms - items with a centuries-old hereditary history: antiques, which for the current grandmother’s great-grandmother was just ordinary and familiar, darkened portraits of Medina's ancestors — ladies in crinolines and knights in armor. Martha Medina says she doesn’t like to create an interior from scratch, she likes it when she already has some backlog. She believes that the main thing is the atmosphere of the room itself, and not the individual objects that adorn it. With the noble chic of Casa de Madrid, she had everything. Luxurious Persian carpets embroidered with silk threads and exquisite murals imitating the decor of ancient Roman villas appeared here. Thus, the walls of the recreation rooms are covered with frescoes, copying those that were in the famous villa of the patrician of Libya.

In Casa de Madrid there are "Greek", "Indian", "Spanish" and other rooms, each of which is decorated in accordance with the chosen country. But they all leave the impression of something solemn. "My hotel is a kind of ancient Spanish palace," Medina says proudly. It would seem that few should know about such a "closed" institution, a small, family-owned. However, it is not. "Here it is, the power of reputation," Medina smiles. "The hotel is recommended to friends, friends to friends, and half the world already knows about you."
