Pavilion designer gilles retsin architecture

Today, for the construction of any building is required to produce more than 7,000 different parts, which complicates the production chain, makes the construction itself slow, expensive and for many simply inaccessible. Gilles Retsin decided to radically reduce this number. In his "designer" every detail can perform different functions - to be a column, a beam, part of the lining. You can assemble these blocks into various structures and, moreover, quite quickly. A pavilion in Tallinn was assembled by a team of four people over four days without using equipment like construction cranes or lifts. It is important that the finished system is always ready for changes: if desired, the structure can be completed or redone. The project was created in collaboration with local manufacturers. It is based on 18 mm thick plywood sheets.
