The most spectacular view of the building is from above. Artistic and very inventive Jean Nouvel came up with a series of intersecting discs. The discs are made of steel, and the facades are lined with concrete slabs reinforced with glass. The powerful image of the building, according to the architect himself, is synthesized from the surrounding landscape.

The architecture of the museum absorbed the sea coast and the local desert - hence the facades with the effect of cracked dry earth.

Everything in the museum is designed so that visitors remember about the desert, stretching on the beach. And the disks that look at each other, according to the Nouvel idea, should resemble the rose petals of the sands.

The building was erected near the historic palace of Sheikh Sheikh Jasim bin Hamad Al-Thani. The monument was restored by the Berlin architecture studio Ziegert Roswag Seiler Architekten Ingenieure in 2014.

The museum has rooms for permanent exposition, galleries in which temporary exhibitions are planned to be placed, an audience for 220 lectures and discussions, a forum - a semicircular audience for more intimate events for 70 places, a restaurant, a cafe, several shops. The architect paid special attention to museum storerooms and restoration workshops.

Construction of the museum is timed to the World Cup, which will be held in Qatar in 2022. In addition, fans will be able to visit the Museum of Islamic Art, the village of cultural heritage, the national library, which holds more than a million books, an artificial island with a luxurious residential complex and yachts. For the championship will also be built 37 metro stations.
