International prize riba 2018

Sculptures inscribed in the desert landscape of Yellowstone Reserve.

RIBA (Royal Institute of British Architects) does not get tired to identify heroes and award the best projects of modern architecture. The British stated that I would consider the whole layer of modern architecture, regardless of typology and geography.

The long list of nominees has just been announced, it is diverse and rich. The results of the RIBA International Prize will be announced in December 2018. But we can not wait and present one of the most unusual nominees - the project Structures of landscape, which was created by Spanish architects Ensamble studio in the US state of Montana.

Sculptures from the project Structures of Landscape were made of clay and other organic materials.

A series of objects graced Yellowstone Park (American National Reserve, covering the territory of Wyoming, Idaho and Montana), which is famous for its numerous geysers and unique nature. The Beartooth and Inverted portal sculptures, standing in the middle of a desert freakish landscape, resemble in shape the opened doors of a giant shell or a broken shell. Large-scale objects that are several times the height of a man’s height are entirely made of organic materials.
