Martine Bedin was born in 1957 in Bordeaux. Even in her hometown, she met Natalie du Pasquier, with whom they would later be friends in Milan. Three years she studied at the Faculty of Architecture at the Bordeaux School of Fine Arts. Did not like, bored.

In 1978 she graduated from the Faculty of Architecture at the University of Florence. There she felt the drive of radical architecture and met Adolfo Natalini. Worked for weeks at Superstudio, and on Sundays with a crowd of fans listened to Natalini’s public appearances. Then she met Michele de Lucca, with whom, having left her job at Superstudio, she left to travel around the Caribbean islands, Mexico and Latin America. From the wanderings, Martin Bedan brought notebooks filled with strange combinations of juicy and, on the contrary, faded tones, ornaments and patterns of pre-Columbian cultures, an incredible exotic and energetic drive. She transformed all these impressions into a spectacular installation: in 1979, she made the project Casa Colorata for the Milan Triennale, for which Bedan made a chair in the form of a stepladder.

In 1980, she met Ettore Sottsass, who was surrounded by talented young people. Together with new friends, Martin Bedan has created several projects in various genres, including bathroom accessories and a coffee maker. In 1981, she became the center of attention of the world press, becoming a member of the legendary Memphis group. At the cult exhibition in September 1981 in the Arc 74 gallery, she showed the Super lamp, resembling a children's toy with six lights.

Since 1982 she lived between Milan and Paris, at the same time she started designing for famous factories and teaching students, teaching became a permanent part of her professional activity. After much deliberation, she came to the decision to focus on the design of unikats - pieces of furniture made in a single copy. In 1993 she made a big installation “Four Houses” for Bordeaux. Her portfolio includes sinks and bidets for Tenas, buses (interiors only) for the city of Nîmes, Bieffe Plast office supplies (the collection was for sale in the US), bags for Veha, decorative ceramics for Up and Up. In January 2018, the Rubelli boutique in Paris will open its doors.
