“Of course, like any professional, I have my own“ secrets of mastery, ”my own methods of work. The main thing is that I always follow my own instinct, relying on immediate sensations. Home is a living organism. And the more generations it lives in, the more interesting the decor will be. Therefore, in my projects I try to mix “past and present”, antiques and contemporary art; I like to combine different colors and textures into a single composition, even different smells!

I love my customers. This is the main condition for successful work. Always very carefully, I would say carefully, I relate to their lifestyle, demands, tastes. We are leading the project together. We walk through galleries, antique shops, flea markets. I am pleased to be around when a person makes his choice. Of course, we argue. But only in this way does a real dialogue arise, only in this way can a living interior be built.
It was very interesting for me to work on the interior design of the New York Guggenheim Museum for the retrospective exhibition “Russia!”. I love Russian art, bright, full of poetry, charm, always unexpected. I love classical painting of the XVIII century, especially the portrait as a genre. What else? Pavlovsk Palace, icons, frescoes of old cathedrals, medieval applied art. From the last century I prefer the era of modernity. I highly appreciate the Tenishev school of artistic crafts in Talashkino, which is not far from the beautiful ancient city of Smolensk. In my opinion, Talashkin workshops are the first Russian design school.
Designer and decorator Jacques Grange graduated from Ecole Boulle and Ecole Camondo in Paris. He worked with Henry Samuel, Alain Demachy and Didier Aaron. From 1970, his career began to grow rapidly. His clients are Yves Saint-Laurent (who, as Jacques says, taught him to work with color), the Lauder family, bankers, princes and sheikhs. Jacques Grange is a recognized collector of contemporary art and design.
