Installations design miami basel 2016

Design At Large is a program that is being held for the third time within the framework of the exhibition of design collection Design Miami / Basel. The essence of the program is simple: as Art Basel exhibits large-sized art on the Unlimited site, Design Miami / Basel invites gallery owners to place large objects on the ground floor of the exhibition building, rebuilt by Jacques Herzog and Pierre de Meron. Tents, pavilions, tea houses, prefabricated housing - all this, of course, is more likely an architecture of small forms. But this fact does not confuse anyone - you can bring in a giant room and well. In addition, some expositions of the Design Curio program deserve attention.

1. Kengo Kuma and Owan

Pavilion Owan, Diz. K. Godmother.

Japanese architect Kengo Kuma made the installation from the Owan metal mesh. Thanks to waterproof membranes, designs can be used in gardens and parks. In addition, mesh covers can change shape if they are warmed to the desired temperature.

2. Ron Arad and Armadillo

Tea pavilion Armadillo, project R. Arad.

Ron Arad designed the Armadillo tea pavilion - a shed made up of five plywood elements. It really resembles the armor of a short-tailed armadillo. The theme of armored shells in general concerns designers, in particular, Martin Baas. The tea pavilion is included in the catalog of Revolution Precrafted, which seeks to “democratize high design and architecture” by supplying self-assembly construction elements from 30 designers, the first names of the industry, including Tom Dickson, Marcel Wanders, Zaha Hadid.

3. Zaha Hadid

Coll. Liquid Glacial. Exposition dedicated to the design of Zaha Hadid.

In memory of Zaha Hadid exhibitions are organized everywhere - in Milan, Venice and, of course, Basel was no exception. The last period of creativity of the famous architect is rich in realized buildings, but Zaha Hadid really left a very interesting legacy in the field of object design. This side of her career is devoted to exposition within the framework of Design Miami / Basel. It exhibits its transparent acrylic chairs and tables from the Liquid Glacial collection for the David Gill Gallery, as well as the famous Valle shelves for Citco from black granite.

4. Kiki van Eyck: Civilized Primitives and Physical Interaction.

Collection Civilized Primitives, diz. K. van Eyck.

Participates in the program Design at Large and the Dutch designer Kiki van Eyck. Her collection is on display in a Bedouin tent printed in 3D by the Dutch company Exposize. The basis of the exhibition - luminous sculptures from the collection of Physical Interaction.

5. Jean Pruve and Maxéville Design Office

Collectable office Maxéville Design Office, project J. Prouve. Galerie patrick seguin

As always Design Miami / Basel is full of piety for the masterpieces of the twentieth century. Collapsible office office, a project of the French modernist Jean Prouvé, was made in 1947 and, until recently, was used as a le Bounty swingers club in Maxeville, near Nancy. Now the precious object is carefully restored, it is sold by Galerie Patrick Seguin.

6. Mazatosi Idzumi and Koichi Hara, Meditative Alcove

Stone Tea House Meditative Alcove, diz. M. Izumi and K. Hara.

Japanese sculptors Mazatoshi Izumi and Koichi Hara made an “alcove for meditation”, a tea house carved from a huge stone block. This design, according to the authors, gives an ideal detachment from the daily routine. In the form of a pavilion, the stone weighs 6 tons, and another 18 tons of sculpture were cut out from the original volume.
