In one of the INTERIOR + DESIGN interviews, Harry Nureyev once said that “the ideal house should live at least 50 years old, and from its windows you can see a beautiful view.”

The house in which his New York apartment is located is close to the ideal. The post-war building is located, as Harry himself says, “not far from the water” in the trendy Brooklyn Williamsburg district, which was chosen by artistic bohemians. From its shores opens such a panorama of Manhattan, which in Manhattan from no place you will not see.

The apartment is also an office and a kind of showroom: the interior is furnished exclusively with furniture designed by the owner. Many of these collectible design items have already received recognition.

Harry Nureyev is exhibited in the best gallery of New York and Los Angeles, taking part in Design Miami and Sight Unseen Offsite. This year, he has scheduled six major shows: so, in April, opened his personal exhibition at the Museum of Modern Art in Dallas.

Harry Nureyev lives in two countries, now he spends more time in the States - there are a lot of projects here. Although the Moscow office works in its normal mode. “New York chose me. Here people love minimalism and appreciate non-standard projects. Everyone is not just ready to experiment, but they demand it from you. I love Moscow very much, but it’s good where you can realize your capabilities by 100 percent. In New York, intellectual work is highly valued.

The object design for Harry Nureyev is “small architecture, fast and docile.” He creates fine furnitutre, furniture as an object of fine art, and even with the function. Nureyev organized his production in Russia, then established it in New York.

“In two countries there is a fundamental difference in consumer culture. Having something personalized in New York is very prestigious, and doing a craft is like being a doctor. And it costs accordingly. ”

When Harry Nureyev was looking for housing, he wanted to find an apartment with many windows. The result exceeded all expectations. With an area of 55 square meters. The apartment has 10 windows facing three sides. No less fortunate and that the landlord allowed to make changes to the interior. It was not about redevelopment, only minor alterations, but these “touches” changed the image of the apartment.

Harry Nureyev painted the walls, increased the opening between the living room and the dining room, opened the boarded up window between the dining room and the kitchen and inserted a sheet of pink plexiglass into it. At this, the presence of pink in the interior ends. But recently, it was recently the favorite color of Harry Nureyev. “Today we have everything blue,” explains the designer. I love his various shades, from Yves Klein to blue on the Russian flag. ” New love is naturally reflected in the interior.

But the blue period, apparently, not for long. There is information that Nuriev passes to the next creative stage. The next step is a purple shade of amethyst. “The blue color is strong, well protected. Violet is more regal. But pink is very naive, ”says Harry Nureyev.
