Baccarat: precious light in the courtyard of the pinakothek

House Baccarat presented new items during the 55th Milan Furniture Salon and Milan Design Week. The Lumières Out of the box collection was created by designers Arik Levy, Marcel Wanders (Marcel Wanders) and Hans van Bentem.

This is not the first time that the European premiere of the Baccarat luxury collections is held not in the homeland of the famous French luxury brand, but in the fashion and design capital Milan. And, according to the already established tradition, the entourage is carefully chosen for the presentation: the palazzo, the church and, in April of this year, the courtyard of one of the most famous museums in Milan - Pinakothek Brera. In 38 rooms on two floors of its galleries hang immortal paintings by Raphael, Mantegna, Tintoretto.

The main event of the evening was the first Baccarat chandelier with precious stones, blue topazes Ostro - more than 700 blue ostrotopaz® gemstones are inserted into crystal frames. Maurice Samuel Ostro, a British entrepreneur, gemologist and philanthropist, head of Air Fayre, a pioneer in the development of blue topaz, helped realize it. Even the terms London Blue and “Swiss blue”, which are commonly used to describe shades of blue topaz, are associated with the Ostro family. This masterpiece is dedicated to Max Ostro, the father of Maurice, a passionate admirer of the French House of Baccarat, who dreamed of implementing such an outstanding exhibit.

Marcel Wanders created the Le Roi Soleil chandelier ("The King of the Sun") for Baccarat, changing the classic shape of the palace parade lamp to a modernist ball, in which glowing lamps interlace like snakes. A crystal table New Antique is recommended for her in pandan. Arik Levy demonstrated Tuile de cristal, a modern interpretation of the 1970s lamp shades with a fashionable mesh in the broken glass trend. Hans van Bentham showed a vase of impressive size - a Medicis XXL floor lamp, made up of 13,000 crystal elements.

Maison Baccarat exhibition was notable for its excellent scenography - all new creations were presented as just unpacked works of art in special museum boxes for transportation.
