Functionality, natural wood, color - all this is present in the works of Andreas. Like his famous predecessors, Arne Jacobsen or Børge Morgensen, he is inspired by nature, and therefore favors organic materials and simple forms.

Andreas studied at the National College of Art and Design, as well as at the University of Bergen. But the thirst for knowledge on this has not dried up - Engesvik himself teaches at Stockholm University Konstfack. In 2000, the designer, together with his friends, established the studio Norway Says (“Norway Says”) and in April of the same year they went to Milan to represent their debut designer collection at the SaloneSatellite exhibition. This was the first participation of the Norwegians in the last 40 years.

After 10 years of collaboration, Andreas Engesvik opens his own studio, AndreasEngesvikOslo. Continuing to cooperate with well-known Scandinavian brands such as Iittala, Muuto, Asplund, Fogia, he expands the field of activity and takes on different, directions of industrial design and easily changes the scale. So, along with chairs and sofas, he can easily work on a toothbrush.

At the Stockholm Design Week in 2013, together with the Norwegian designers from StokkeAustad, he presented the unusual glass sculpture The Woods. The project was inspired by the northern lights, Scandinavian forests and how the trees change their appearance in different seasons of the year.

In the wake of success, Andreas is developing lamps for the French brand Ligne Roset and the Italian company FontanaArte. It is noteworthy that Engesvik is not afraid to share fame and often collaborates with other designers. Often another Norwegian talent — Daniel Ribacken — became his co-author.

One of the latest works by Andreas Engesvik is the Agnes chair for the Swedish brand Ire. The main idea was to create a chair that is suitable for both the city apartment and the veranda. The wide base and low landing are designed to relax the seated person, dipping him into a cozy informal atmosphere. A distinctive feature of things became upholstery, which can be easily replaced.
