William Sawaya: For me, there are no iconic items. The sign in modern design of upholstered furniture is the volume, comfort and maximum convenience for a person, while I consider the similarity of many models to be a negative trend. That is why last year the sofa Zaha Hadid (Zaha Hadid) was for me a bright revelation. This is a non-standard approach to the process of creating a sofa - something new, the quintessence of life.S: If you had the task to make a project of a modern living room, what designers would you invite and how would it look? - I would invite William Sawaya. I would make this living room very simple: elegant, logical, comfortable and rational. The fact is that each designer, becoming more mature, is able to give up the superfluous - many elements that make it difficult to see the essence.S: How would you define the style of modern upholstered furniture? - I am against classification and division into any styles. Every time I am convinced that it is impossible to classify beauty. Beautiful things are always beautiful, although absolute beauty, in my opinion, does not exist.S: I would like to know your opinion about the future of "soft" design. - По моему мнению, люди все меньше и меньше выбирают для своего дома сеты от одного производителя или от одного дизайнера, предпочитая комбинировать отдельные предметы. Смешение предметов от разных дизайнеров - это и есть будущее мягкой мебели. С момента основания компании SAWAYA&MORONI такой подход является нашей философией, и я рад, что в этом смысле мы очень точно предугадали будущее. Ну а если говорить об особенностях самих вещей, то здесь, пожалуй, имеет место движение в сторону большей технологичности и комфорта.
