Ванда Ельмини (Wanda Jelmini), the niece of the famous Rosita Missoni, art director of the brand MISSONI HOME, is developing a collection of home lines of the famous brand. In an interview with SALON magazine, she talks about trends in the design of dishes, how to get rid of the complexes, and also tells us what the brand MISSONI strips are made of.SALON: Wanda, tell me, how do the branded MISSONI strips differ from the traditional Scandinavian stripes? - Difference in colors and mood. Firstly, the Italians are more lively and temperamental. Secondly, we live surrounded by bright colors. In Italy, for example, oranges grow, but not in Scandinavia. We have a sea of a different color, mountains of a different color, even a sky of a different color.S: It is interesting to know how you embody these principles in the interior. For example, what does your living room look like? - I work a lot with bright colors, so at home I prefer quieter paints. So the living room walls are painted in a neutral color. My sofa is black and white with pink pillows, but maybe next year it will be orange. As I said, I'm a little tired of bright colors, so my bedroom is white. In my new house, which is currently being built, the largest room is exactly the bedroom. It occupies almost 60 square meters. m, from the windows you can see the mountains and the forest. I have not yet thought about whether it will also be white, or I will paint it in some other color.S: In the MISSONI HOME collection there are not only fabrics, but also tableware. How do you think the kitchen should be framed? - In the kitchen a lot of color. Greens, meat, fruit, pepper create their own composition, for which the kitchen should be just a background. That is why our dishes are made in a neutral scale, which only emphasizes the color of the food.S: What do you think, what forms in the design of dishes are now fashionable? - Definitely, soft, as close to natural. At one time, Japanese cuisine was very popular in Europe, which is very minimalist in spirit, and the dishes had regular geometric shapes. Now soft smooth lines in the style of Gaudi and the modern era are being revived.S: So Japanese cuisine is no longer in fashion? - It seems to me that yes. Now in Italy, the influence of Arab culture has become very noticeable: Arab music is constantly being played on the radio, there is a hamam cafe where you can visit a Turkish bath and drink coffee or apple tea. If earlier Italian women were crazy about lambadas, now everyone goes to Arabic dance courses. This is manifested in the interiors. For example, Oriental carpets reappeared in the houses, many people buy Arabic-style lamps, hang bells, or buy some other Oriental accessories.S: You talk about minimalism as if it was already dead. - It seems to me that the period of minimalism is over. It was a period of fear and self-doubt, when people lived in a cage and could choose only the same colors, the same forms. When a person gets rid of the complexes, first of all he allows himself bright colors. Now people need bright colors, they need flowers, joy and fun.S: It is known that color can heal, and even there is the concept of "chromotherapy". Do you think a person should choose those colors that he likes, or those that are useful to him? - Here the pattern is very simple. When a person is happy and feeling good, the color that he chooses is the color he needs. And if a person is bad, it is better to contact a specialist who will help you choose the color. Here you need to keep a balance. Active people surround themselves with very bright colors, however, calmer bluish shades are more beneficial for them. Melancholic, on the contrary, wear clothes of calm, sad tones, although they need brighter, more energetic colors.S: What colors do you think will be fashionable in the near future? - What do you think about this?S: It seems to me that it is magenta (fuchsia color) and pink. - Yes, these colors were in fact very noticeable at the last furniture exhibition in Milan, but now the color of fuchsia is changing on more delicate pink. It seems to me that next year black and white will also be popular, as well as pure colors: if it is blue, then the colors of the blue sky, if it is red, then without shades, if it is yellow, then the color of the sun.
