A stylish hotel, designed by an Italian architect, opened in Azov

Azov stands on the banks of the Don and at all times was of great strategic importance. In the past, the city is a fortress, now it is a city-port with a rich history and its own traditions. All this Italian architect Michele Angonese from the wwtsproject design studio (a division of W.W.T.S.) felt and embodied in the interior of the new hotel Grand Hotel Soho, an unprecedented project for this region of such a level.

The architect focused on two colors, arguing with each other, and therefore disturbing: orange and gray. These are the colors of the fortress walls and the Don steppe. The first ones, by the way, are viewed through high panoramic windows in the lobby. Michele says that these landscapes are like paintings, and the most profitable “highlight” for them is the rays of the setting sun. The lobby is also inspired by the castle architecture: powerful masonry, stone floors (made of rare Gris Pulpis marble, also called Bulgari, as it is used in the decoration of all boutiques of the jewelry house), impressive leather furniture. The rooms are decorated in the same style. The best suite, Presidential, made in the style of a loft. In the bathroom, the brickwork of the walls is combined with panels made of Arancione di Selva marble, the floors are teak, with rubber, like on yachts, the bedroom and living room are furnished with Italian furniture. On the roof of the building, under a glazed dome, there is a restaurant with breathtaking views of the Don open spaces (they say, in good weather, even before Rostov). The ground floor has a pub and a fully equipped spa.
