In early September, an exhibition was held in Frankfurt am Main with the tentative name Tendence, which presented to the court of professionals the "ready-to-wear fashionable dining" of the winter-spring season of 2003 On the eve of the winter holidays, everybody released collections for the occasion of the next New Year, Christmas, Valentine's Day, etc. If last year in similar collections absolute leadership won the classic combination of red and gold, in this favorite is a duet of silver and gold. Company SWAROVSKI for the first time presented a line for table setting, the bestseller of which is the Rainbow napkin ring, topped with sapphire. The main trend in the decor was the image of wild berries, wild fruits and wild herbs. This essentially petty-bourgeois idea was embodied as a result of pure aestheticism: whose branch of the gooseberry will come out more elegantly and will become a reference one this season. Even the KPM designers retreated from their golden rule of creating only white collections and succumbed to the temptation to color their sets with wild fruit. What to say about VILLEROY&BOCH, which is the trendsetter of table fashion, the company prepared a tasty surprise for lovers of strawberries: a collection of Wildberries porcelain (“Wild berries”), the theme of which was blackberries, strawberries, etc. But still not single berries, but also herbs and other plants ... PHILIPPE DESHOULIERES turned its attention to the foreign flora, presenting the Borneo collection with the image of palm trees. And the company JG DURAND decorated the bases of glasses, candy dishes and vases with elegant vegetable engraving. And if in the decoration this year the flora was given the green light, with the introduction of flora into the house in the future problems may arise. The vases shown at the exhibition are so self-sufficient works of design that it is blasphemous or simply impossible to use them for their intended purpose. For example, when glass flowers are supplied with a glass vase (VENINI). The nostalgia for excessive luxury inherent in our organized and equipped century has been reflected in the new collections of WEDGWOOD, MIKASA and AUGARTIEN WIEN. The old-fashioned forms of the tea service of the last of the listed companies refer us to the beginning of the last century. Extremely deep by modern standards saucers are now perceived as cute and a little ridiculous. Until the beginning of the twentieth century, all the saucers were as follows: of them drank tea in the Asian manner, slowly and with taste. WEDGWOOD company did not change the forms, while remaining committed to the classics: the new mainly affected the materials and colors. Now, under the famous brand, not only porcelain is produced, but also leather trays, photo frames, etc. This year, more than ever, people are often the topic of design. Are these “dancing little people” funny from ROSENTHAL STUDIO LINE, cartoon characters presented by THOMAS ROSENTHAL (Аmici collection), thoughtful faces of girls depicted on ORREFORS vases, or glass portraits masks from SALVIATI ... Designers try to make think about the most important thing in life - about ourselves, about the inexhaustible search for truth ...
