Plato would have said about this apartment that the builders failed to realize the "idea" of a right-angled triangle. One corner rests on the "wheel" of the bay window, the other is completely cut off - halfway to the nonexistent summit is the master bedroom. Finally discredits the geometric principle of a rectangular cabinet. The architect had to reconcile the corners with curved lines and round with square The interior of this apartment has two points of attraction: the "natural", inherited from the builders, and the second - the "artificial", created by the architect Nana Getashvili in order to bring harmony into the interior. We are talking about a massive column that stands in the middle of the hall, and a cylindrical fireplace in the living room. The principle of maximum openness, which the architect wanted to embody, is in bad agreement with heavy structural elements. However, it was impossible to remove the column, and Nana Getashvili came up with a spectacular visual device. Asymmetrical patterns appeared on the floor in the hall, resembling circles, which scatter from the "fallen from the heavens" column. Fireplace performs a fundamentally different function. This column is "intangible." Not only is the idea of a transparent fireplace not unusual, but also the place it occupies in the room is unusual. Not in the corner, not against the wall, but right on the very aisle on the way from the living room to the kitchen. Such a fireplace can be bypassed from all sides, looking at the fire, casually shaking cognac in a bellied glass. When traveling around the fireplace, you will not encounter obstacles, since the doors in this interior perform a completely different function - not to close, but to separate, not to hide, but to show. However, sometimes you want to leave not only in yourself, but also from others, retire in your own cozy little world. And then the transparent door-partition becomes a blank wall, hiding behind which you can rattle the saucepans, while the representatives of half of humanity who are so indifferent to football are covered by the sports-beer syndrome. In the living room, the role of the alcove is performed by the "wheel" already mentioned. In this small room, fenced off from the living room by a semicircular door-partition, it is so good to read books. It is not heard that melodic ringing, which by itself, without any reason, settles in large open spaces. The column in the hall serves as a bridge support separating the flow of water. To her right is a spacious living room with a kitchen and a bay window, to the left is a private area where the bedroom, dressing room, study, bathroom and guest bathroom are located. So, the massive column, initially so interfering with the architect, received an additional, semantic, load. It has become the most important element of the architectural composition, a kind of border pillar, separating the rest space from the space of private life.Nana Getsashvili: "This apartment initially had a complex geometric shape and many structural elements that could not be dismantled. But even in such harsh conditions we managed to create the impression of openness and spaciousness, and turn the disadvantages of the layout into advantages."
