We met with Нино Черрути on the stand of the brand Italian Baller in Milan. The reason for the conversation was the first collection of a fashion designer for a furniture brand. Indeed, he came Нино Черрути. Charmingly elegant and aristocratic and courteous. And immediately began to vigorously talk about the new collection of upholstery fabrics for sofas and armchairs.

The collection is a collection, but how was it not to ask “that Cherruti” about the new stage of his work ...

SALON: Please tell us how such a sharp turn happened in your career as a famous fashion designer ...

 - Well, I would not say that. In fact, nothing revolutionary happened! I work with fabrics all my life, but I was not always a fashion designer. Once I dreamed of becoming a journalist, this is romantic! But I had, as often happens in a real Italian family, to take my place in the family business. In our case, it was the father’s weaving factory. When I inherited his business, I took up the production seriously. And I really know quite a lot about fabrics.

S: Did you like doing family business then? After all, fate went against the dream.

 - This question in some cases does not need to ask yourself whether you like fate or not. Time will reward and put everything in its place ... I think it all worked out as it should have been. So, at some point, not immediately, of course, I began to understand something: how the world has changed, what a modern person needs ... I am now talking about the art of dressing. It seemed to me that I could do something on this field. I wanted to embody a new ideology: ready-made clothes (in the sense of not sewn with tailors or at home with their own hands, but one that can be bought) can be luxurious, luxury. And at 27, I made the first collection of men's clothing. After 10 years in Paris, the CERRUTI boutique opened at Place de la Madeleine. All this is more or less known and was very long. Now, more recently, I do furniture, interior ... For me, this is not so much a new thing as a continuation of my story, of what I have always been doing. Fabrics, color, patterns, trends - fashion, beauty, chic. Mark ITALIAN BALERIES entrusted me to become a "fashion designer" furniture collection ...

Now, it seems to me, in our environment there are not enough bright, rich tones. For many decades, gray and brown reigned in the interior. This is a very noble tone. But when only they are around, it's hard. Therefore, a collection of furniture fabrics for ITALIAN BALERIES* looks pretty fun, in a good way provocative. There are a lot of fruity, sunny flowers. And the textures are velvety, soft, very pleasant to the touch. And, of course, there are many Oriental motifs in the collection - one of my favorite themes in textile design.
