Since the spring of 2008, in the Palazzo della Gerardeska, built in the XV century, and in the Palazzo Conventino of the XVI century (there was once a convent here), the Florentine hotel of the famous Four Seasons chain welcomes guests. Around Florence’s largest private garden, Giardino della Gherardesca. From the end of the 16th century, this land belonged to the Scala family, then the Del Nero family name. Then Alessandro Dei Medici (he is Pope Leo XI). In the 17th century, della Gerardesca appeared, whose name ultimately carries the palazzo and the garden. There is a long, interesting story everywhere. Architecture and decor (in particular, the unique bas-reliefs of the XV century, decorating the courtyard) refer to the Renaissance. Murals in the rooms XVI- XVIII centuries stucco, stained glass windows of the Renaissance and a later time, even preserved silk wallpaper of the last century. The garden surrounding the hotel is a work of landscape art from different eras: from the Renaissance (then the famous architect Giuliano da Sangallo worked on it) until the post-war time when it was restored by Pietro Porchinai, the largest specialist of the 20th century in landscape design.

Four Seasons Firenze is a very patriotic place. For example, the Il Palagio restaurant serves Tuscan dishes made from local ingredients only. Chef Vito Mollica purchases products from well-known suppliers. The winery offers branded Tuscan wines (including Sassicaia and Ornellaia). The hotel’s SPA center is also “Protoscan”. Cosmetic procedures were developed in collaboration with Officina Profumo - Farmaceutica di Santa Maria Novella - one of the oldest pharmacies in the world (it has existed since the 13th century).
