Hotel in the building of a former printing house in the bohemian Vera district — a new landmark of Tbilisi

The concept of Rooms Hotel was developed by its owner Temur Ugulava. He decided to combine the old and the new, the history of Georgia and our days. So, in the design of interiors used local materials. For example, the facades were decorated with oak panels (oak is more than a hundred years old), the floors of the first floor with a lobby, bar and restaurant were laid out with traditional tiles, while the walls were decorated with a frieze with national ornament. Everywhere there are works of modern Georgian artists, sculptors, photographers (Vera district, where the hotel is located, their enclave). At the same time, the building’s industrial past (in Soviet times there was a printing house) is reminiscent of rooms — American-style lofts. The source of inspiration was the old New York hotels. In the former elevator shaft, by the way, they made a winter garden. The image of the designer hotel is complemented by retro accessories, as well as atmospheric soundtracks and aromas created specifically for Rooms (the hotel develops the concept of influencing all five human senses).

The ground floor is a single space where exhibitions, jazz concerts, and shows of Georgian Fashion Week are arranged. The restaurant is equipped with an open kitchen: one can observe how chef Francesco Manalo prepares the author's cuisine — on American subjects, but exclusively from local products. The hotel also has two bars — in the lobby and in the courtyard. The latter is designed as a greengrocer's shop, and cocktails are made on herbs here.
