The source of inspiration, architect Emmanuel Leni, found in the pleasure ships of the beginning of the century, the result of which was the unusual interior of the house, resembling an inverted ship, stranded As usual, everything decided the case. Caught during a bike ride on the ocean, the future mistress named Miriam discovered an old abandoned house. A marvelous landscape appeared to her gaze: yucca bushes, immortelles descended to the rocky shore of the ocean. With the beginning of low tide on this hidden from prying eyes beach, numerous fishermen collect shells and shrimps with their hands ... Imagination Miriam finished painting a picture in which her own house became the main character. It was in February. When meeting with the architect, Miriam expressed her wish to celebrate Christmas in a new place. And the efforts of the master Andre Blanche construction work was completed on time. The main condition of the customer was to preserve the original appearance of the landscape. The building, in outlines resembling a ship, was built of stone, which is quite a lot in the area, and perfectly fit into the landscape. The color of the material from which the house is composed, almost merges with the color of the rocks and sand of the coast. The footpath leading from the house to the beach is fenced with metal railings from the cargo ship. The main facade with a length of 60 meters is oriented to the west (the entire building occupies an area of 650 m2 ). The walls are built without mortar, and the architecture of the house is similar to other buildings of the island. Large glazed windows-doors, in which the setting sun is reflected, move into the wall. External and internal forms of the building are completely different from each other. In the main part there is a living room, a kitchen and a living part consisting of an entrance hall, a bathroom and the master bedroom with windows to the ocean. And for the guests, there is a distant part of the house with white facades typical of Ильle de Ré. The entrance door is seven centimeters thick and is trimmed with oak planks on the inside and exotic woods outside. With wood wonderfully combines custom metal hinges and a large antique lock. From whatever direction you enter the house, be it an entrance hall, kitchen or terrace, the entire panorama of the internal structure opens immediately. The skeleton of glued wooden plates serves as a supporting structure for a rounded ceiling and walls of red spruce, connected with grooves and spikes. Five arches of glued wood perform not only a decorative function, but also support the roof. This is especially evident next to the entrance door, where two perpendicular frames intersect. Supports the construction of a wooden post-support with a metal hoop in the middle. Oak floor 35 mm thick, made from the boards of old railway cars, treated with wax and mastic, and it can be easily washed. The architect used the idea of a large "production" room: the "rooms" are separated from each other quite arbitrarily: the mock-up of a sailboat separates the bar and the smoking room, the backs of the chairs - the living room with a fireplace and a large luxurious dining room, and the ship's cabin - the hall and the living room. Spacious kitchen (70 m2) besides its main purpose, it performs another function - it is a favorite meeting place with friends. There is a bar counter, bought on the island, and a huge exhaust hood near the wall, under which a barbecue grill and two kitchen stoves are located. Most of the interior is somehow reminiscent of the sea, according to this principle, they were selected and bought from dealers with old things in England, on the Mediterranean coast, on the island itself ... Such a brilliant implementation of the idea can be explained by great enthusiasm and complete understanding between the customer and the architects , - both at design, and during construction. In the far wall of the large living room there was an imperceptible door completely merging with the wall that leads to the entrance hall — at the same time both the reading room and the room where you can watch TV. Thanks to this corner in the master bedroom is always quiet. The same materials are used in the decoration of the bedroom and the bathroom as in the other rooms, and the unity of style is also felt here. In the bathrooms, old plumbing has gained new life thanks to the installation of modern Stella pipes and faucets. Five guest bedrooms do not look alike. They are made in the Latin American spirit. It may even seem to the guests that, having entered the bedroom, they had already swum across the Atlantic Ocean and were on the other side!
