Eclecticism is not only style, but the very spirit of this apartment, located in London’s Chelsea quarter. In the layout there is a modern freedom of combination of light and spacious volumes, in the decoration there is a mixture of various reminiscences, from pale pink rococo to a screaming disco. In fact, this apartment is nothing but a story about its owner - artist Tanya Hooker. Tanya was born into an artistic family: all her relatives were engaged in painting, writing novels, or at least collecting works of art. This family spirit of collecting, obviously, was reflected in the eclecticism of Tanya’s apartment. It turned out to be collected not only a collection of various objects (glass figurines, dolls, glasses, own and others' paintings), but also a real collection of styles. Judge for yourself: the combination of baroque forms of furniture with striped upholstery in the spirit of the 50s, Dutch, checkered, floors, antique chairs and armchairs bought at London auctions, with bright modern decoupage and collages on the walls - that this is not a private collection of your favorite motives, styles, epochs. In addition, each collection object is individual, but not ambitious, none of them dominate the interior and does not impose a single style. This apartment is surprisingly reminiscent of an elegant ladies' box with all sorts of things. On the square, round, rectangular tables there are arranged vases, boxes, porcelain slippers - all of various shapes and colors (Tanya Hooker's author's works). The closet in the living room is transformed into a real altar of fashion with the help of collages decorated with its doors - masterfully carved figures in costumes pasted on a gold and silver background. Tannina's bedroom (a cozy sofa and studio adjoin it) was transformed, turning into a white and pink boudoir. In this interior there is something from romantic, childishly fabulous scenography: silvered and gilded furniture, tabletops decorated with Tannins decoupage (with leaves and swan feathers brought from Hyde Park), a transparent canopy with a wreath of flowers, feathers and figurines birds ... "When I go to bed, feel a sense of security and comfort, - says the artist. - Enveloping transparent fabrics, soft lace pillows - in them you feel hidden, as in a cocoon." It turns out that this extravagant, independent, even somewhat emancipated English lady (as an American by birth, Tanya has long felt like a European resident) is still a little girl playing with dolls. Her apartment is a world filled with fantasies and childhood memories. In the kitchen there is an ancient bird cage (the first adult present she received, then an eight-year-old girl, in Tunisia), in the bathroom there is a collection of seashell dolls (also from childhood). The antique doll in the bedroom, according to Tanya, brings good luck, and the little red-skinned man with a telescope standing on a Chinese dresser in the living room looks to the future, to her fate. How in Thani Hooker
