Decorator Yana Roberts has created a happy relationship story: the owners love their home very much, and he reciprocates them

О работе над проектом Jana roberts рассказывает в интервью журналу SALON–interior.

SALON: How was this object born? What tasks have customers set for you? —Hosts — a young couple leading an active lifestyle. They both work, travel a lot around the world, are interested in the culture of different countries, collect contemporary art. He prefers restraint and comfort, she is in love with non-standard combinations of color and shape. The main task was to create a unique interior with an atmosphere of calm and discreet luxury, reflecting their lifestyle. I suggested to take as a basis muted shades of a gray-blue sky (as a reflection of the host's nature) and dilute them with bright accents and non-standard combinations in textiles (as a reflection of the hostess's character). They immediately liked this idea, and they gave me more freedom in the manner of its implementation, for which I am very grateful. In many ways, my inspiration was art objects from the collection of customers and the so-called objet de curiosité, brought from all over the world. Modern customer is very difficult to keep in one particular style. He wants both antiques, and ethnic, and art-deco furniture, and ultra-modern art. Therefore, I would call my work style an “intellectual collector”. From the decorator there are required courage and art in the choice of combinations and proportions.

S: How did home planning influence artistic decisions? “The house was originally quite well designed, plus the owners had the task to enter as soon as possible. Therefore, it was decided not to change anything drastically. I proposed to place all public areas on the first floor, and private areas on the second. Storage systems and utility rooms "went" to the base. On the first floor there was a small suite: a dining room, a living room, a library. I wanted the interior of each room to reflect the mood of its functionality: a sustained living room, a meditative library, an expressive dining room, and a sensual bedroom. I conceived a certain route, moving along which you see an increase in color and intensity of the decor. The entrance area and the hall are painted in the color of the Petersburg sky (Petersburg — the hometown of the mistress). One of the walls is highlighted in color — this is ZOFFANY wallpaper, similar to dark blue metal plates. Such a wall was specially created by me for the large photo work of Yang Bin "Tibetan merchant". We bought it with customers in Paris. In the living room, soft shades, soft textures. The area of the room is 56 square meters, and my task was to fill it with functional objects, while maintaining lightness. The room has a lot of light thanks to the three panoramic windows. On the walls are wallpapers imitating wild silk and symmetrical panels of natural cotton with inserts of bamboo and a metal thread. In the soft zone, a comfortable sofa with cashmere pillows and velvet chairs. The dining room continues the theme of the blue sky, but in a more saturated color. On the wall is a panel of glass wallpaper under the skin of a slope. I diluted modern design objects with exotic finds.
