Architect Igor Kapran made an exceptionally joyful, comforting apartment in Kiev. As he himself believes, the identity of the hostess had a significant influence on the formation of the concept of space. Her incredible vigor and optimism are reflected in laconic architectural forms and bright colors. It all began with the usual, rather uncomfortable four-room apartment in a modern high-rise building. The main condition set by the customer was freedom and openness of space. Therefore, the partitions were removed, and two logically planned main territories appeared on the square, which was freed from unnecessary walls: public and private. The open public area includes a hall, living room and kitchen-dining room, private - bedroom and bathroom. An unusual catchy detail of the hall and living room is a portal of rich red. This construction in the spirit of Suprematism, as it turned out, hides part of the bearing wall. It was impossible to remove it entirely for objective reasons, so the author decided to modify the wall by piercing the opening in it and giving it the noble shape of a rectangular portal. In general, geometrism is characteristic of an apartment as a whole: the square surfaces of glass blocks draw attention to themselves to the cubic forms of cabinet furniture. Just like some canvases of suprematists, the interior "picture" of Igor Kapran seems to be glowing. But not only due to the dense, clean, shining colors, but also thanks to the verified light scenario. Soft light penetrates through the glass blocks into the living room, surrounding, like a frame, cabinets behind glass doors, which, in turn, are softly and delicately lit from the inside. “I saw Acerbis cabinets at the Milan exhibition back in 2002,” the architect recalls, “and I liked them more than they liked. A surprisingly thin, solid and self-contained thing, I thought then. I was somewhat sorry that this cabinet furniture did not rhyme with one of my interiors of that time. However, some time passed and a “bright” apartment appeared, where the “self-sufficient furniture” fit perfectly.Igor Kapranov :: "There was a lot of interesting things in this project: the solution of architectural problems proper, the decoration game with color and textures. One of the determining factors is mutual understanding with the customer, an unusually thin and cheerful person. The apartment is very much in line with it"
