Light and air, luxury and aristocraticism — the basic themes of this country house near Kaliningrad

The customer — a Kaliningrad businessman — turned to architect Tatyana Genna with thoughts that he would like to build a beautiful spacious mansion for his family — a spouse and two children. From a functional point of view, the requirements for the future home were quite standard: a large living room, bedrooms for each family member and guests, two kitchens (one — the family’s parade, the second — the professional, designed for preparing meals during the days of ceremonial receptions). Much more wishes were to the emotional side of the project: the interior was supposed to give the impression of a luxurious, respectable, with a touch of aristocracy and at the same time very light, weightless and refined. This feeling is primarily promoted by the architecture of the building with a double-height living room, an open floor plan of the ground floor, panoramic windows to the floor, a semi-spiral cast staircase with a wide march and smooth lines.

The author of the project approached the choice of finishing materials from the same positions of pomp and respectability. The floors in the public area are lined with white marble and parquet, the walls are decorated with light cream silk wallpaper, the columns and the panel with lighting for the TV are decorated with honey onyx. The floor in the hall of the first floor to enhance the effect of inlaid stone panels of marble and onyx. A special role in the formation of the ceremonial atmosphere plays furnishings. And what is most interesting, the whole furnishings (both furniture and lamps) are collected from the collections of one brand — VISIONNAIRE. As the architect explains, she always dreamed of making a project with the furniture of this brand. And the case presented itself. In this house just such things were needed — artistic, charismatic, luxurious a priori. The customer did not have to convince. Visiting an exhibition in Milan, the owner, without further ado, confirmed Tatyana’s choice with the words: “We only need this.” A month before the end of construction, all the furniture was ordered.
