"For everyday life, a person needs comfort, simplicity of architectural and planning decisions, a space where it is cozy," says one of the project authors, Andrei Rudakov. It was with such a look at a residential house that the work of the ru.studio group of architects began on the project of a studio apartment.Salon: What task has the customer set for you? Andrey Rudakov: The task was formulated very simply - to create a space with a modern interior in which the young owner would feel comfortable. We suggested, as it seems to us, a rather original embodiment of this task - the high-tech style. It seemed interesting to the customer. Honestly, we did not expect a positive reaction, because most often people are afraid of experiments in the house where they are going to live. So we were flattered and started to work with great interest.S: What have you encountered in practice?Rostislav Krivenko: This apartment has a complex broken perimeter of walls, ceilings of irregular configuration, different forms of window openings. All this needed to be preserved and used in the interior as positive qualities. The geometry of the room dictated to us what the layout of the apartment should be. The location of the house also affected this. So intimate rooms overlook a quiet courtyard with low-rise buildings, but the windows of the guest area are oriented to a lane with heavy traffic. A.R .: The public zone with its structure resembles an American loft - a system of flowing spaces separated by glass partitions. However, they are visually combined with complex metal structures made especially for this apartment. The integrity of the space of the apartment give a single pattern of flooring and monochrome painting the walls.S: Have you intentionally focused on lighting?A.R .: Yes, we tried to think over and "draw" all the details of the large steel structure on which the lighting fixtures are attached. Its technical embodiment, in our opinion, flawlessly. It is a merit of our partners who made metal products, lamps and a fireplace according to the author’s sketches.RK: In general, due to the fact that this whole area is solved as a single bright space, the fireplace located here and a large sofa group look quite light and organic.S: High-tech, as you have already noticed, is rarely used in the interior of a dwelling. This is partly due to the fact that in this style it is difficult to create coziness, a "domesticated" atmosphere. What did you do to make the interior of the apartment not so strict and "mathematical"?A.R .: You're right. In a residential interior, the stiffness of the hi-tech is required to somehow balance. We supplemented cold glass and metal structures with “soft”, “smooth” furniture. It was necessary to place a few color accents. But the colors should not have been screaming and not acidic, it would have been the opposite effect, which instantly turned the interior into kitsch or even bad taste. The color of the furniture must be sustained: on the one hand, warm, “relaxing”, but on the other - strict colors. It is brown, beige, possibly black. All these things balance hi-tech aesthetics and bring home comfort. In the same way the interior is built in other rooms. For example, on the one hand, in the bedroom we see a metal rack under the plasma panel, which corresponds to the aesthetics of the whole apartment, and on the other - a bed under a soft blanket. The bathroom also has a similar contrast - radiant tiles and wooden furniture.S: Are you satisfied with the result of your work?RK: Yes. And the reaction of the landlord and his parents confirmed a positive result. It seems to us that we have correctly chosen the stylistic decision of the interior. It is significant that for the six months the owner lived in an apartment, no significant changes were made to her appearance. Yes, there are many accessories that create coziness and comfort, but they do not contradict the style.A.R .: In general, as a professional, I am very pleased that such "advanced" customers have appeared in Russia, agreeing to experiment on their own housing and completely trusting the opinion of architects.Andrey Rudakov: "The successful result of this project, it seems to us, was influenced by the fact that from the very beginning we spoke with the customer in a language understandable to each other. Interestingly, the Baroque high-tech solution was chosen for the interior of the studio apartment. , and we are pleased to translate the idea into reality. "
