Alfredo Colombo, Director of Development, tells about the unique dresser created at the Colombostile factory

Alfredo Colombo began with a story about a museum prototype of this thing: “In the north of Italy, not far from Turin, is the famous hunting castle of Stupinigi. Once it was the residence of the monarchs of Savoy. The best masters worked on the interior, and in particular the master cabinet maker Pietro Pifetti. According to the legend, it was Pifetti who made a royally luxurious chest of drawers inlaid with ivory, rosewood, yew, decorated with painting, hand-carved, engraved on metal and gilding between 1730 and 1735. Our company decided to release a copy, but rather to say, its version of this precious thing. The use of ivory is now forbidden, and therefore we took vegetable ivory (material obtained from seeds of Phytelephas macrocarpa palm tree). On top of the ornament of plant ivory applied ink drawing. The legs of carved wood are covered with 24-carat gold, and the handles are made of cast metal. Top engraved, and then the metal is gilded. Open the boxes - and you will see that inside they are trimmed with silk velvet. Everything is done by hand, as in the days of Pietro Pifetti. ”
