Kiev designer Elena Sherstyuk made an exquisite duplex apartment for a family of four. This apartment is located in a modern high-rise building; At the same time, the interior is built on classic allusions and is saturated with antiques of the 18th and 19th centuries.

There is no stylization for a specific historical epoch. On the other hand, there is no feeling that this is an old apartment in which many generations of the same family lived. This is a trendy modern house, the main reception of which is read from the doorway: eclecticism. But not eclecticism in general, connecting the unconnectable: precious woods and plastic, baroque curls and constructivist forms. And the eclecticism is selective, built on classical allusions and meticulously juxtaposing whether this is a chair of the era Louis XV to that epoch bed ar nova, and that - to the modern dressing table in the style Louis XVI. The path is laborious, requiring work with a large number of options, until you find the desired one. The method is similar to the method of naturalist, who for the sake of the ultimate goal must find and describe hundreds of species and subspecies and at least make a trip on the ship "Beagle". And if it seems that the designer simply beautifully and easily mixed antiques from different eras with modern styling, rest assured - this is an illusion. Although the effect of the work done turned out to be correct - a feeling of lightness, grace, comfort. That is (and here again the parallel with science is relevant) by comparison and experimental selection, the author obtained the facts on the basis of which he built an elegant scientific theory, in our case - an exquisite European interior. It remains to add that the layout of the apartment is also quite classic: on the first level there are public rooms (hall, living room and kitchen-dining room), on the second level there are private rooms (bedrooms, bathrooms). Says the owner of the apartment Olga: "C Elena Sherstyuk we have known each other for a long time - this is not the first apartment she made for us. We have conceived this interior for a long time. Elena perfectly understands me. Take, for example, such an important question as the choice of color: since she knows that I love green, we only discussed which shades of green should be chosen. Terracotta wallpapers for the walls were offered by Elena, and although I hadn’t been a fan of this color before, I’m very comfortable with him now. Favorite place for any housewife - the kitchen, and I am no exception. If, say, I have a long phone conversation, I settle in the kitchen in my favorite chair. You'll look out the window - there is the Dnieper, a beautiful landscape. "

Elena Sherstyuk: "The owners of this apartment like the classics. But I never work in pure styles. This time I created a mix of things from different eras, to which the definition of eclecticism is most suitable. I think that I managed to establish the necessary balance between things of different styles, so the interior as a whole looks harmonious. "
