Hotel d’Inghilterra is a good example of cosmopolitanism: located in Italy, in the very center of Rome, two steps from the Spanish Steps, and at the same time it is “English”, associated with Foggy Albion

Hotel d’Inghilterra is named so by chance. Behind the name lies the whole story. The word Inghilterra in Italian means Great Britain. The fact is that here, in the middle of the XIX century, the famous British poet John Keats lived nearby, on Piazza di Spagna. He was not only an excellent writer, but also a warm host. However, even his house could not accommodate all compatriots and friends who wanted to pay homage. They had to rent rooms in the d’Inghilterra building of the future. So, when in 1845 they decided to open a hotel here, there were no questions with the name, as well as with the clientele. Apparently, this is the fate of this palazzo on via Bocca di Leone - to receive guests. Indeed, in the XVI century it was built for this very purpose: the famous Roman family, Torlonia, had a mansion across the street and, in order not to make banal guest rooms and strike with the scope of ideas, rebuilt a separate, fully and completely guest palace. The interior breathes British respectability. Roman spirit is added to the baroque paintings, adorning the walls of rooms and public areas. By the way, last summer the upper floors of the hotel were updated. Not necessary, but certainly nice details were added, such as, for example, a jasmine garden in the Penthouse Suite. Plus there were suites, decorated in the spirit of modern aesthetics.

The beauty of d’Inghilterra is in its remarkable location. Two steps away all major shopping - the streets of Rome. Tired of strolling through boutiques, you can relax in the Café Romano, where Italian dishes are served, and in the Bond Bar, which features a cocktail menu, which is pleasant for its variety.
