Who remembers Gorky Street and the Molodezhnoye cafe, will easily find a new restaurant, Gorki. The building, built in the late 30s, is fairly well preserved. The Stalin Empire style architects decided not only to restore and preserve, but also to “play on it” while designing the restaurant. “We wanted to make everything pompous and ambitious,” says Vlada Ostoich, “even deliberately hung red velvet curtains, like in those times.” The only thing that was added from architectural details is a semicircular balcony for a DJ and designed the second level for a soft zone.
