The interior of a two-level apartment in Kiev was created on the basis of art nouveau. This is a generous and magnificent style - this is how the author of the project, the architect, saw and realized it. Igor Dotsenko

Liberty in Italy, Art Nouveau in France, modern in Russia - in different countries it was called differently, meaning, however, the same style of the end of the XIX - beginning of the XX century. His graceful lines, which you can’t confuse with anything else, look like a pattern of waves or flexible stems. “If you walk through the old part of Kiev and look at the architecture, it will become clear that here Art Nouveau also has its own face and is somewhat different from both Moscow and St. Petersburg,” says Igor Dotsenko. - It is more magnificent, more artsy. Take, say, the famous House with Chimeras. In terms of expressiveness, emotional charge, modernity is already close to baroque ... Having understood the preferences of customers, I went for a walk around the city. The inspiration came by itself, and with it the solution: the style of the interior will indirectly resemble the style of Kiev’s urban architecture. ”

So in the apartment appeared the openings of characteristic shape, generous plaster moldings and marble carvings. Furniture picked Italian, modern, but made in the style of liberty. “It is interesting that the factory where we ordered the furniture was founded in 1910, that is, just at the time when the liberty style in Italy was experiencing a kind of boom,” says the author of the project. - And the main models they have survived since that time, that is, the furniture, though new, but quite authentic. And it was important for us that the style look natural. ”

But at the same time the task of strict compliance with the style was not set; on the contrary, the architect tried to diversify the interior as much as possible. For this, for example, in the office he used decorative elements of a close-in-time style arc deo, and in the bedrooms - wallpaper with patterns of time Victorian Of England.

Project author Igor Dotsenko: “Customers turned to me as an architect who works with classics. I was lucky with them: from the very beginning they knew what they wanted in the interior of their new apartment, namely, the art nouveau style ”
