Probably, there are people with innate taste - just as there are, for example, people with absolute pitch or the writer's talent from nature. They tend to have a heightened sense of the authenticity of things, and if they put doors in their house, they will certainly be made of mahogany, and if they buy a vase, then at Sotheby's auction. For them, perfectionism is not an abstract idea, but the norm of life, including in creating your own home ...Architect as a conscious need When people build their own houses, that is, without the participation of an architect, sooner or later they realize that it is still impossible to do without a professional. The owners of the five-storey "unfinished" turned to the architect Amalia Talfeld at the moment when there was a brick "box" on the site with several rather strange supporting columns inside the building and a raised roof. Customers, of course, valued the work done and asked, if possible, not to change anything. Therefore, the redevelopment was done at a minimum. For example, arches were pierced in the blank walls - this is how the through views came from the living room to the kitchen, dining room and corridor and managed to create the effect of flowing space. Or, say, the supporting columns decided not to break, but to decorate - so in the center of the living room a partition with a fireplace, “working” on two sides, was lined with natural limestone. The disadvantage - inappropriate free-standing columns - was decoratively gracefully turned into dignity: on both sides of the double fireplace two cozy sofa zones were formed, and from its butt end another one near the piano. To the farthest of these corners - with large stained glass windows - a three-step staircase leads: from this side, the portal of the fireplace is antique, made of white Carrara marble. However, antiques are a special theme for this house.Antiquities Shop The owners were passionate collectors of antique furniture. For the most part, these were unique items of a very high level, which, naturally, required an appropriate interior. Actually, to some extent, this interior was created as a worthy "frame" for works of art, as the space in which these objects could live. Therefore, often the antique thing set the tone for a particular part of the house. So, the existing antique writing desk "entailed" not only the armchairs and chairs for the library, but also the cabinets themselves - CLIVE CHRISTIAN’s furniture stopped precisely because it corresponded to the style of that very table, and in search of furniture and fabrics for this house tremendous help decorators Maria Yakushkina and Olga Kushnareva. Another example is a luxurious carved merchant buffet, which was repulsed by the image, selecting furniture and finishing materials for the kitchen (the kitchen is also from CLIVE CHRISTIAN): rustic "crumbling" stone on the walls, tiles with country-style décor and floor boards (plank, By the way, the floor is made only in the kitchen-dining room, in all other rooms the floors are parquet). In other words, the originality of style, this interior is largely due to antiques.Worthy rim Although similar in style interiors are often referred to as English, this name is very conditional. In fact, England is mixed with France and the East, and the Empire style - with medieval motifs, which, however, could well coexist in the culture of the colonial power. All the rooms of this house are stylistically traditional, but each is decided in its own manner. So, almost all over the house, the walls are upholstered with silk, but in the living room it is golden fabric with a pattern of grape leaves, in the study it is terracotta with Chinese pagodas and clouds (what an English house without a Chinoiserie-style room!) with a characteristic french pattern joie. It is logical that traditional were not only the types of fabrics, but also a method of upholstering the walls, which were covered with silk according to the old technology - using moldings. Covering large walls with a cloth turned out to be a daunting task, but the authors of the project coped with it brilliantly. The pattern of the parquet, like the pattern of the fabric, is not repeated anywhere in the house: each room has its own pattern, which uses up to 10 types of wood. Of course, the parquet was typed by hand, and one of the most spectacular drawings was in the lobby of the second floor. An interesting detail: on one side, the hall opens onto an external balcony, and on the other, onto a small balcony with an elegant wrought iron lattice in “French” style, which opens onto the living room. Naturally, in a country house, a tribute is paid to the medieval theme - this is a wine cellar, with the advent of the "knight" table and chairs, which turned into a tasting room in which guests gather with great pleasure.Russian Albion The traditional family life is reborn, so there are "English" houses. In the library cabinets there are not porcelain figurines, but the tattered volumes of Main Reed. He is read, and in the house with antiques "in a worthy setting" - they live. Happily ever after.Amalia Talfeld: “This is not just a house that was created as a“ decent frame ”for unique antique furniture collected by customers. It is a deliberately built world with its own traditions. The definition of“ English style ”is quite conditional for him, rather it’s about some idea the English mansion is aristocratic and thorough.
