Parquet: five competitors

Five floorings compete with parquet. Some are more successful, others less. Examine, compare and make the final choice.

MASSIVE BOARD The oldest wooden flooring is truly experiencing a rebirth. The board is stylistically versatile: suitable for a loft, an English house, and a fashionable palace. It differs from parquet in size (length is usually 120–200 cm). Therefore, beautifully conveys the beauty of wood, but also more expensive. Often complex operations: grinding, applying protective and decorative layers - the manufacturer assumes.

PARQUET BOARD In 1942, Tarkett, the parquet manufacturer, patented a new design coating. It was also made of wood, but consisted of three layers in which the fibers were arranged in different directions. What is the advantage of this floor? Parquet board is a product of full factory readiness, perfectly polished and varnished. Unlike parquet and solid board has a multi-layered structure, like plywood. Top valuable wood - an average thickness of 4 mm. The fibers in the layers are perpendicular, so the board reacts less to changes in temperature and humidity than the array. It is cheaper and easier to install. Long enough serves. Some manufacturers give a warranty of 25 years.

LINOLEUM We are not about that of PVC, - about natural. About the magnificent material from natural ingredients: linseed oil, resin, cork and wood flour, which was invented in 1863. Variety - marmoleum, patented by Forbo. Environmentally impeccable. Recently, the brand has chosen nine of its “greenest” decors - and from the sale of each meter it will pay half a euro to the Wildlife Fund.

MARMOLEUM Do you want a child to be less sick? Then you should choose this material. It is based on flaxseed oil. Plus additives: natural resin, limestone, wood flour. Numerous studies have proven: marmoleum is useful. Linseed oil fumes (a strong antimicrobial substance) greatly reduce the risk of allergies, asthma, and colds. On the surface of marmoleum, bacteria multiply by a thousand times; it does not attract dust ... The only difficulty is the need for professional styling.

STONE Often used granite and marble. The first is the champion in durability, but makes the house look like a mausoleum. Marble is more pleasant, but requires special care - polishing with a protective composition that closes the pores. Today, the marble learned to artificially grow old. And we advise you to pay attention to the slate: a very interesting stone.

CERAMIC TILE Simulates any textures. Not only stone, but also metal, wood, leather. And sometimes - combinations of materials. No need to think about masking joints! Naturally, today they even lay tiles in the living room. The strongest variety is porcelain stoneware.

Granitiafre HQ.Resin porcelain stoneware is a material that, due to its minimal joints and flat surface, creates the effect of a solid coating, the same as a self-leveling floor.
