Paris Salon PAD (April 4-8, 2018) is a favorite event for all who appreciate collector's design. Every year, gallery owners are set to spend a few days in a giant tent, which is erected in the Tuileries garden, with benefit and maximum benefit. Moreover, the current session will be held under the patronage of French President Emmanuel Macron.

French interior designers of the highest flight, of course, consider this event "their". The jury of the annual competition, led by the Honorary Curator of the Center for Contemporary Art named after Georges Pompidou Marie-Laure Joussay, in 2018 included Vincent Darré, India Madhavi, Luis Laplace, Sarah Lavoine, Pierre Frey, Pierre Jovanovic, and Jacques Grange. All of them will have to make difficult choices and determine who got the best stand, who showed the most interesting subject of the twentieth century, who put out the best modern one. The guest lounge was designed by the architect and designer Charles Zahn. In this installation he uses Ettore Sottsass ceramics, and the whole set design is permeated with memories of the 1970s.

XX century. Among the exhibits already announced by the participating galleries are a lot of historical proposals for the interior. The twentieth century is represented by French Art Deco masters, Brazilian modernists, several great things. George Nakashima.

Fashion names. Yves Gastu has prepared a real gift for his clients and guests of the Paris PAD - several sculptor and designer objects François Kante-Patos, - surprise and find for collectors and top decorators.

Among the mods of the current PAD - designer Herve Langle. Galerie Nergopontes will show his cabinets, arches and dressers, finished with polished veneer - the style of the 80s, which for a long time was considered a bad form, attracts attention again.

Shine. At the stands of many galleries - an interesting light. And rare, nominal vintage, and modern experimental objects. The unusual but very famous floor lamp by Serge Muja was found by the Paris gallery Chastel-Marechal. Beatrice St. Laurent exhibits the continuation of the incredibly successful collection of Pia designer Maria Rader Sea Anemone.

Materials As usual, there are a lot of objects on the stands that demonstrate artistic work with spectacular materials, complex combinations and rare finishes. Gilded brass, patinated bronze, pink jade, hand-dyed resin, opal glass, rare woods — surfaces, joints, and even the insides of cupboards and chest of drawers insist on their exclusivity.

Of course, gallery owners could not respond to the popular 1970s. Thanks to several dealers, PAD guests will expand their understanding of the controversial decade. The stands will include both steel objects by Maria Pergey, and lamps by Andre Fernandez, and sculptures by Paul Bury. And the set design of Charl Zana, of course, is completely immersed in the 1970s style. Zana masterfully combines reflective and matte surfaces, inventively compares materials from different eras, such as shagreen leather and mica-lacquer, marble and marquetry made of straw, velvet and boucle wool. An esthete colorist, he admitted that in a Paris apartment he spied on a palette of tones in Italian ceramics from the 1970s and 1980s. In his collection there are more than 300 ceramic vases by Andrea Branzi, Michele de Lucca, Alessandro Mendini and Ettore Sottsassa, who will take part in the production.

Mirrors Among the variety of items will be presented a variety and very original mirrors. Vintage and modern frames along with other objects will be shown by the galleries Ratton, Galerie Italienne, Garrido, Maria Wettergren.

Of course, not all things dealers announce in advance, many surprises are waiting for collectors on the opening day. But it is still clear that in the first hours of the salon, collectors, museum workers, decorators and collection consultants will have something to discuss with gallery owners, there will be something to look at and ask.

PAD Paris exhibition will be held from 4 to 8 April.
