Marilyn monroe lips and gufram furniture

Bocca is one of the most visible things about Gufram. The world's first sofa in the form of women's lips was a continuation of the portrait of Mae West brush by Salvador Dali. His image adorned the covers of fashion magazines, and the sofa itself was included in the collections of several major museums. In 1935, Salvador Dali created an unusual interior dedicated to the star of Broadway, Hollywood film star, playwright and screenwriter May West. May was one of the first who was not afraid to talk openly about sex, devoting several productions to her, went down in history as one of the founders of the movement for the rights of sexual minorities and the highest paid woman in the USA. The interior of Salvador Dali with a sofa in the shape of lips, a nightstand in the shape of a nose and other details can still be seen in the Dali Museum in Figueres.

In 1970, designers from Studio 65 made the Bocca sofa (translated from Italian means “lips”), repeating the demarche of the great surrealist and master of promotional tricks of Salvador Dali. In turn, the Italians took a sample of Marilyn Monroe’s lips. The rights to produce a seductive object in the color of red lipstick were obtained by two companies: Gufram (sofa, covered with cloth) and Heller (plastic version). In 2008, Voss from Gufram radically changed color, got a piercing in the lower lip and turned into Dark Lady. In 2016 - “Marilyn's lips” shine with gold. (The image of the 1960s sex symbol of American film actress Marilyn Monroe constantly inspires designers and architects to create popular interior items. Among the novelties of the year is the Marilyn door handle by Chinese architect Ma Yansong, MAD Architects.)

Several famous models of Gufram were reissued for the anniversary - the Globe wardrobe, the sculpture of Pratone, the Mozza stool and others. Marble Poltrona - the chair of Alessandro Mendini - was also awarded a limited edition.

Among the "fragments of the history of design" in the representation of Gufram - Bocca's scarlet lips of the 1970s. On the left is the giant La Cova seat-nest designed by Gianni Ruffie, 1973. The installation is made up of design icons sinking in sugar cubes from ultralight polyurethane, the main material of Gufram. Among the exhibits are legendary objects: Cactus by Guido Drocco and Franco Mello, Pratone by Giorgio Ceretti, Pietro DeRussi and Riccardo Rosso, Globe from Studio Job, Magnolia from Marcel Wanders and many others.

The exhibition at the Galleria Carla Sozzani is largely iconic. Europeans remember not only post-war modernism, but also the bright design of the 1970s-80s. An extensive retrospective of Pierre Polena was opened in the Paris Pompidou Center, Italian design appeals to the work of the Alchemy groups (founded in 1979) and Memphis (1981–1988), Mario Bottas is designing a collection for Lalique in the spirit of its own forty-year-old postmodern structures. ..
