Design is experiencing great times, as revolutionary as in the 1980s. So say Tom Erbe (Thomas Erber) and his ally Thibaut Van der Berg (Thibaut Van den Bergh), the founders of an unusual gallery Kolkhoze.

Kolkhoze is a fresh alternative for acquiring design in the 21st century. A kind of "curiosity cabinet", pop-up and online store. The choice of Thibault and Tom focuses exclusively on things done here and now, the collection series, released after 2000.

Since childhood, brought up in the French modernist culture, Toma quickly became a collector, but he was confronted with what contemporaries face who want to “buy design”. Having no time or desire to go to Italian factories, fly to Design Miami, or wander through the Saint-Ouen markets in Paris, they are forced to come into contact with the world of endless copies and too expensive originals offered by online stores in the design icon segment. Therefore, only unique works, signed and numbered, taken directly from living designers and architects, whose work is located on the border of industrial experiments and art, are sold in the “Kolkhoz”.

Of course, the Frenchman gives preference to the French (Erika Behnke, Pierre Gonalon, Victoria Wilmotte, Damien Gerney), however, among the collective farmers, the Russian star Denis Milovanov, the Georgian duo Rooms, and the German Valentin Loellmann, who received in 2017, feel confidently PAD London Award for Best Modern Design.
