Developer Federico Stubbe turned his private residence into a gallery house with the most modern level of comfort. Living in the Caribbean is a dream of many, especially in the harsh months of winter. For Federico Stubbe, this is not a dream, but a reality. President of the Prisa Group, a major developer, Stubbe is actively developing his native Puerto Rico. His enterprise conducts large-scale projects in the cities of San Juan, Bayamone, Manati, Sidra, Gurabo. The pearl of the “collection” is the Dorado Beach Resort and the house that Stubbe arranged for his family there. The plot of half a hectare on the Caribbean coast in 1958 began to develop Lawrence Rockefeller. In the 1960s, it was a resting place for the rich and prosperous. Today, the point of attraction for tourists from all over the world is the Ritz-Carlton Reserve Hotel, opened in 2012: business and political elite, Hollywood stars, flock to rest here, famous athletes regain their strength.

Stubbe first appeared in Dorado in 1990 when, as part of a joint project with the Pritzker family, he was engaged in the implementation of a master plan created by Rockefeller. The house where the Stubbe family lives today was erected in 1995. “Initially it was a completely ordinary villa in Mediterranean taste, designed by a local architect. We arranged there accommodation for mom. I shot her half a house while we were repairing our mansion in San Juan. We enjoyed living in Dorado so much that it was decided to settle here. I had to buy a house from my mother! Since then, Dorado Beach has become my main residence. Seven years ago, the interiors were literally gutted, we added glass ceilings, a lot of things were rebuilt - a complete transformation took place. ” The same can be said about the life of Stubb himself. After his beloved wife, the mother of his two daughters, unexpectedly passed away, the developer found a life friend again.

In Barcelona at the Formula 1 races, where he tested cars, his attention was attracted by Carolina Figueredo, a Venezuelan gallery owner, who sells art in Caracas. She shared his passion for fast cars and dizzying adventures. They had a romance, and Carolina became the full owner of a luxury residence in Dorado Beach. The gallery owner quickly got used to the new place, founded the FITS Foundation, a non-profit organization that promotes artists, is engaged in educational programs and produces art installations. Of course, Figueredo paid particular attention to works of art in her own home. Here reigns its excellent taste.

Together with her husband for several years, Carolina collected a first-class collection of contemporary Asian art, works were brought from numerous trips to Shanghai, Beijing, Tokyo, and regularly bought at fairs in Basel and Miami. “I began to study contemporary art in Asia about ten years ago,” says Caroline. “With the exception of Japan, it was a young, rapidly developing art.” As a museum specialist, it seemed to me interesting to follow the dynamics. ”

Recently, the alteration of the house has been fully completed. Carolina Figueredo worked hand in hand with designer Jean-Pierre Santoni. He helped to arrange a hall resembling contemporary art gallery. A designer and collectors selected works by Takashi Hinoda, Takomo Sawada, Lin Tian Myo together. Together with Santoni Federico Stubbé, he figured out how to combine the house with a garage, because his favorite vintage cars Porsche, Mercedes-Benz, Range Rover and the advanced Tesla Model S are stored there. The house reflects the lifestyle of the Stubb couple: they like everything modern nature and love art. Their residence became a real art museum in a tropical park.

The stunning vegetation that surrounds the house is a full-fledged element of the interior, it can be clearly seen through the giant windows. To enhance the effect, the owners decided to build a green wall - the fashion for “vertical gardening” was laid by French landscape architect Patrick Blanc. Another decoration of the estate is a magnificent golf course. Thus, the owners are in contact with nature all day long: if they do not roam the emerald lawns, they contemplate it from the windows of the villa. Park and lawns - the object of constant care of invited professionals.

For the furnishing of a four-bedroom house, designer Jean-Pierre Santoni chose original items - interesting, with character. Functional objects, chairs and lamps were bought so that they looked at a level not lower than the works of art on the walls. So in the living rooms, dining rooms and bedrooms appeared items Jean Prouve, Fritz Hansen, Arne Jacobsen, Christian Liegre.

The residence has three transparent volumes, which were invented under the impression of the Apple glass store on Fifth Avenue in New York. In one of the cubes is the office of Carolina, in the other - the kitchen-dining room, and in the third - one of the living rooms. “Glass constructions are usually used in commercial objects, and we wanted to see how it looks in a private residence.” In the Caribbean, it is very important to include nature in the general structure of the house, and the Stubb spouses succeeded brilliantly.
