In September 2017, the Nobis Copenhagen hotel opened in Copenhagen. The first in the Nobis network, located outside of Stockholm. The Swedish architect Gert Wingord (Gert Wingårdh) was responsible for the design.

According to Alessandro Catenacci, head of the Nobis Hospitality Group, the design is based on a new definition of luxury. Gert Wingord and his team Wingårdh Arkitekter presented a master class on a timeless interior. The hotel was conceived comfortable and friendly, but free from all superfluous and artificial.

A harmonious mix allowed to create high-quality materials - natural marble and oak, copper and glass. But the main thing was the choice of the subject - the hotel is decorated with spectacular works of author's design. Among them are the fashionable lamps by Michael Anastassiades, the classics of the 20th century - chairs and chairs of Hans Wegner, crystal by the Danish designer Frederick Bagger.

Gert Wingord is an iconic figure in the sky of Swedish architecture. He began as a decorator, but after graduating from university, he became a practicing architect and in 1977 opened his own workshop. For the Öijared Executive Country Club project in the suburb of Gothenburg, Wingord received the Chasper Salina Prize, the main architectural award in Sweden. And today he is considered a master of large-scale shopping complexes and concert halls, the author of chic facades and a lover of bright colors. He is called a maximalist, and his architecture is called a commercial success architecture.

Bardiglio Nuvolato.

“Danish classicism, an excellent example of which is the building of the hotel, is more complex than Swedish. We were delicate, emphasizing every detail of the original architecture. We added high-quality natural materials (various grades of marble, stone, wood and glass) along with a subtle color scheme, choosing a beautiful green shade as an accent. ”

Previously, the building of 1903 was occupied by the Royal Danish Conservatory. The task of Wingårdh Arkitekter was to preserve and emphasize the original architectural details: for example, an impressive main staircase was restored.

The Gert Wingord bureau was also involved in decorating the Niels restaurant at the hotel. His design is an homage to Le Corbusier’s works. The glass facade with rhythmic glass decoration hints at the resemblance to the Dominican monastery Sainte Marie de La Tourette.
