“Good design is characterized by simplicity and inspiration.”
The starting point is traditional weaving techniques. From here the patterns reminding interlacing of threads and tactile surfaces. For example, the Amulet octagonal ottoman for Leolux resembles precious stones. The impression is reinforced by velvety textiles of complex shades, beautifully reflecting light, - material in the spirit of fashion trend. In Izem and Girisha carpets, van Vliet shows a recipe for balance: combines a restrained palette, a “vintage” look and a timeless geometric pattern. An interesting detail is the pile of different heights, due to which the pattern of Girisha carpets seems to be voluminous.

Prismo tables are made up of rectangles and circles. Thin lines create the effect of optical illusion. These are the only models in the collection in which textiles were not used: metal frame, ceramic worktop. Pillows and blankets are available as accessories. Thanks to the palette, including muted blue, sand, pink, red, gray shades, and "woven" patterns, they are perfectly combined with other objects.

Edward van Vliet makes projects powerful and spectacular by applying contrasting materials and working with a wide variety of textile samples. At the end of 2017, he found a new place for his design studio, a stone’s throw from the Amsterdam Museum. Here everything is optimistic, colorful and without excesses. Like van Vliet himself. He is loved by decorators. Maybe because most of them are women.
