Design miami basel: jacques dumon on the wall galleries

New York Gallery Susan Demish and Stefan Danan (Demisch Danant) brought to Basel to the exhibition Design Miami Basel items French designer Jacques Dumont (1906-1988).

By topic: Design Miami / Basel 2017: everything you wanted, only better!

The French designer, decorator and master of furniture perfectly matches the specialization of the gallery, which about ten years ago decided to promote post-war French design in the USA. Career Dumont, a graduate school of Bull developed over many decades, his name is not as popular as the names of his contemporaries Le Corbusier, Pierre Jeanneret or Charlotte Perryan, but the tables and chairs are elegant, interestingly invented and give a very accurate picture of the virtues of French functionalism.

Jacques Dumont, a committed rationalist, functionalist and minimalist, not only designed, but also very actively taught, and therefore had a strong influence on the style and preferences of the next generation of designers. He designed more for private orders than for mass production, so his items are rare. Demisch Danant brought the key objects of Dumont, designed in the 1950-1960s: they all demonstrate the new and experimental use of materials - Formica glass, rattan, steel and plastic. The poster announcing the stand features the interior of the “Artists' Lobby”, one of the interiors in the famous Paris Radio House, designed by the designer in 1962.
