David bjørngaard: a room overlooking the bay

Growing up on a Minnesota farm, designer David Bjørngaard, Bjørn Design, learned from childhood to appreciate the simple beauty of nature. Its interior called The Art Salon is inspired by the panorama that opens from the windows of the room - they overlook the bay. The room was decorated for the 2018 San Francisco Decorator Showcase.

The author used shades of sand, sage, morning sky, water. Borrowed from nature and texture: coarse plaster on the walls (coating made by the artist Willem Rekke), on the floor sisal from Mark Nelson Development. In furniture, light wood is combined with dark.

There are several noteworthy objects: this is a walnut dining table, and the mobile of artist Julia Condon floating above it, and a pixel-patterned Kyle Bunting carpet. As well as a painting, placed in a niche. It is fundamentally important: the project used exclusively the work of local artisans and artists.
