Acne studios in new york: gold and bronze

The flagship Swedish brand boutique is located on the prestigious Madison Avenue in the upscale neighborhood of Upper East Side in Manhattan. This is the largest Acne Studios store and the only one in which the main design was the color of gold and the masterpieces of the collection design. Authors of the solemn decision were made by designer Max Lamb and creative director of the brand Johnny Johanson (Jonny Johansson).

The area of 230 square meters. m determine the asphalt-gray floor and even darker massive pillars with numerous patches of colored semi-precious stones, as well as the ceiling illuminated all over the plane and aluminum interior partitions with gold plating. The soft, uniform light of the ceiling visually increases the height of the room and makes smooth gold surfaces glimmer restrained and nobly.

Megalithic pieces of furniture designed by designer Max Lamb have a bronze-coated polycarbonate base. A set of semi-precious stones is embedded in the dark gray surfaces of the floor and walls. The private zone of the fitting rooms has been removed to the depth of the room and is separated from the entrance zone by an aluminum partition with a gold coating. Bright carpets on the floor were the only color accents in the ceremonial space of the store. The ceiling, evenly illuminated throughout the plane, visually increases the space.

Golden walls are becoming the backdrop for branded megalithic furniture Lamb, which is not the first time collaborating with Acne Studios. The sculptural table, benches and low stools of bronze-coated polycarbonate look both rude and majestic. They literally crush blue carpets woven from threads of different thicknesses. The fibers for them were first painted by hand directly in the London studio of Lamb, and only then sent to the factory of the Swedish manufacturer Kasthal. Expressive color spots on the floor were the only bright accents in the whole space, they add emotionality to it.

The pompousness of materials and color combinations, the massiveness of columns and the deliberate heaviness of furniture items are more than redeemed with simple lines and the lack of elaborate details. The rhythm of the thin, but still noticeable profiles of the doors in the fitting rooms is picked up by elegant rack-hangers, also with gold plating. They become a kind of frame for garments. Special glass tables were installed for accessories, and gold shelves were invented for bags and shoes, separating the entrance area (it can be easily seen from the street due to continuous glazing) from the more private, client-side store.

The noble glimmer of gold surfaces allows you to avoid screaming, excessive impressions of the entire highly theatrical boutique space.
