In 1999, residents of the western part of Manhattan founded the Friends of H-line society, wanting to preserve the old railway. Now here is a green space created by the Diller Scofidio + Renfro (DS + R) project - a catalyst for the development of innovative design in NY. “Friends of the High Line” continue to support more than 98 percent of the annual budget for the operation of the park and contribute to the development of the surrounding buildings.
The hat contour advertises the 520 west 28th residential complex, designed by ZHA along H-line. This is not the only object created in support of the Friends of H-line. Other works will be exhibited at the charity auction on June 14, 2018.
