SALONA: Recently, many design schools have appeared in Russia. What is the reason? - In my opinion, the school of design can only be called such institutions, which have some kind of legendary history, outstanding teaching staff and brilliant graduates. If these three components are not, then in the full sense of the school (no matter design, mathematics or physics) it can not be called. In Russia, unfortunately, there are only three such historically established institutions: Stroganovka in Moscow, the Academy named after A.L. Stieglitz in St. Petersburg and the Ural State Academy of Architecture and Art in Yekaterinburg. The rest can be called educational institutions, where design is taught. The fashion was formed including by the designers themselves. Now we are just in a panic, where to attach them, because in our country there is no need for so many designers. We are not Singapore, where one janitor is required for 200 inhabitants, we have much more modest requests in this regard.
