The windows of this Petersburg apartment face south-east and north-west, and therefore the sun is a frequent and welcome guest in the house. And in cloudy weather, it is replaced by the warm color of cherry and Karelian birch.

Customers insisted that the interior should not be cold colors. We chose the color of the cherry as the main tone and selected the rest of the palette based on it. Since the cherry has an active, pronounced texture and eventually becomes even brighter, a light beige color and a bit of wenge were added to it as "companions". Moreover, the color range was unevenly distributed in the interior. For example, a hall in which there are no natural sources of light was made white, in the living room the color thickened and reached its maximum saturation in the study.

The interior style is modern, but the definition of “fashionable” does not fit it. The concept of fashion suggests "now, only this season." Here is a balanced symbiosis of modernity and laconic classic replicas, which is ideally suited to the character and status of the owners. Calm, confidence, desire for eternal values - this is a figurative series, which is implemented here by means of design. "The main task was the search for proportions - says Maxim Rymar. - Since it was possible to change building structures only to an insignificant degree, special attention was paid to the search for harmonious proportions. We tried to find the best ratio between the height of each room and its area. To visually raise the ceiling in the living room and bedroom, I had to lower the eaves. Furniture was selected from such a calculation, so that it was comfortable, looked discreetly, but respectable. The customer is an adult enough and he did not want his apartment to become a hymn to fashion. But at the same time I did not want to make a classic interior. Only separate quotes and planning techniques were taken from the classics: an illusion is created at the expense of the mirror in the hall enfilade..."

One wall in the living room, adjacent to the office, is painted red-brown, the glossy front panel of the bar counter has the same shade. “The walls in the office are also red-brown in color, but lighter than a half tone. This is how a visual connection is formed between rooms of different styles,” comments Maxim. The owner's office looks very respectable. Designer furniture and panels made of Karelian birch are rather restrained in design, but the material itself refers to the heritage of the imperial past. The hostess also has its own corner - a boudoir in the bedroom. “The children of the owners have already grown up and live separately,” the architect explains. “And we deliberately sought to create" selfish "apartments for two people."

Maxim Rymar:"We wanted the interior to give the impression of respectability and at the same time be free from any pretentiousness. We also wanted the overall style of the internal space to match the exterior of a modern building ..."
