Art Director of Lithos Design talks about stone as a source of inspiration in his life and his role in interior design.

How long have you become the art director of the brand? —We started together six years ago. I suggested Alberto and Claudio (to the owners of family production Alberto and Claudio Bevilacqua — SALON): “Why don't we make modern marble design ?!” Before that, I worked with various materials, mainly plastic, and decided to apply my experience such material as stone. I shared a few ideas with them, and they were immediately put into production.

SALON: How did you get the idea to make a modern mosaic of marble? “I studied art and crafts in Venice. And I thought to translate traditional Italian art — a marble mosaic — into modern language using modern technologies (computer, laser, etc.), but keep the same impressions that arise when you come into contact with ancient art. How to do it? For this we need to ponder what art gives us, on which its magic is based, the effect on man. Stone is thousands and thousands of years of history. He is a living material, a witness of antiquity, a substance created long before us ... His veins and inclusions can be read like a book.
