The interior of this St. Petersburg apartment is the ar-Nouveau anthem, the natural organics of which became a source of inspiration for the author of the project.

Designer-designer Marina Dyachkova, author of the project: “This interior is an expression of customers' lifestyle, their understanding of beauty. They love the classics, so they chose the art nouveau style in which they are most comfortable. He became the hallmark of the apartment, especially its front part. The private is framed in a palace spirit — this is also very close to customers. It is elegant, festive, richly decorated. No wonder, when we did it, we thought about sunny, cheerful Italy. Viva Italia — it’s not the other way around. ”

Customers found the designer-decorator Marina Dyachkova on the publication of one of her works in the magazine SALON – interior. The project was made in the style of Art Nouveau, just what they needed. They called and invited Marina to St. Petersburg to take care of the interior of their apartment. “The customers are a young couple, people are very dynamic, active, they work a lot,” says the designer. “They were born and raised in St. Petersburg, surrounded by architectural monuments. Despite the fact that customers are young people, they are interested in and understand the historical themes. Petersburgers have a special mentality, their own ideas about beauty, so for me it was not surprising that they chose this bizarre and expressive style. ”

The decorative theme of the apartment is lily of the valley flower. This is the leitmotif of the interior, its alpha and omega. Even the project Marina named after him. Lily of the valley is present everywhere: in the carved frame of the arches, in the decoration of doors, furniture, fireplace, panels, in the pattern of marble inlays, in the design of lamps and stucco moldings. “The art nouveau style is smooth, flowing vegetable lines with recognizable plasticity that manifests itself in everything — continues Marina. —It is self-sufficient and difficult to combine with other styles. In addition, modernity existed for a short period of time, and it is rather difficult to work with it. Authentic things are extremely few. We managed to buy something in antique shops, but most of the things (both furniture and decorative elements) had to be developed specifically for this interior. ”

Art Nouveau is a hymn to nature, a song about nature, and in this interior the author of the project does not depart a step from the accepted concept. The color range is nuanced, built on thin transitions and is represented by natural shades (olive, purple, gold, silver, blue, peach). Her choice was partly influenced by the climate of St. Petersburg. “The feeling of color in people here is somewhat different,” notes Marina. “My customers, for example, do not perceive white, and I tried to convey their psychological nuances in the interior to their color relationship. The walls are covered with multi-layered decorative finishes. They have no density, they are like a haze, sfumato: through the multi-layered painting gold shines through and shimmers. There is an amazing effect, there are volume, depth. It resembles the glare of the sun, appearing through the veil of clouds. Ceilings are also non-uniform. This gold, tinted with silver, is another association with the Petersburg sky. The muted gold creates in the interior a feeling of warmth, the sun, which is so lacking here. ”
